Episode 4 (Bianca’s pov) he caressed every skin around my flesh as I gave a sounding cry of pain. I never expected it to be this soon but it has happened now I await the fate that awaits my future. He drove me home and insisted he enters and says hi to my family despite my declination. I had no choice but to let him in after much persuasion from him to follow me inside, I told him what’s going on so he should expect any expression. We got into the house and met mom in the sitting room with Jerry all eyes on the television, Ben stepped in and greeted her with a squat I was really nervous, mom ushered him in with a big welcoming smile and asked him to sit. I asked her of dad and she said he went to the bank for a meeting. She asked me to get the visitor a drink after which I did. Ben introduced himself to mom but did not add the fact that his my boyfriend, he stayed for few minutes and stood to leave. I saw him to his car and when I asked why he did not add the fact that we were dating he said when I go back to the house mom will talk to me then I decide to either tell her who he is to me or not after which I message him to tell him whatever it is I tell her. he smiled with a wink and got into his car without a hug but I reasoned its because we were in the compound. I got into the house and mom signaled me to the couch next to her, Mom: Bianca I am your mother and I may not know it all but I know better, (smiles) so who is that bobo? Bianca: I know she will ask but I didn’t expect it to be now, she should have waited till our kitchen time where we get to gossip I would have decided to tell her or not) uhm that’s Ben ma MOM: I know he’s Ben, he introduced himself, and he’s the guy from the super market right? Bianca: yes mom but he’s my friend. MOM: now I get the reason for the massive discount. So he’s just a friend right? I nervously walked to my room as I saw Jerry come out from his bedroom as mom had asked him to excuse us when Ben came in and for him to come back right now I’m sure he was eavesdropping as usual. I got to my room with a glass of water and swallowed the pills Ben had given me he said it was to prevent me from getting pregnant. The memories of what had happened earlier captivated my soul if only mom knows her advice was too late. Sleep engulfed me that I woke up to the pounding sound of the pestle on mortar, o my God it’s past time I rushed to the kitchen and saw mom pounding the yam already and when I asked why she did not wake me when it was time she said I looked tired and since my alarm could not wake me she felt she could just do it for today. I helped her with the concluding part of dinner as dads car entered the compound I quickly served him dinner as he teased me saying Jerry told him my boyfriend came to the house, seems that was the welcoming speech Jerry gave I only smiled and said NO o. I retired to my bed as Ben and I chatted away the night I also told Clara what had happened she was furious but had no option but to accept it. She complained of how she has been with Mike for two years now but he has never touched her why should my relationship of two days take away my virginity. I got angry that she was trying to say I had no self control so I logged out without saying goodnight after all Ben was off already. “hey bestie, im so sorry it took this long to tell you, I will be leaving for uk to study creative writing on scholarship, my flight is for 4pm so sorry I tried telling you but you were so into your new found love. With love CLARA” I woke up the next day to Clara’s message saying she was leaving for the united kingdom with her elder sister for a scholarship to study creative writing. I was close to tears as the thought of my best friend leaving dawned on me. I called her cell and she said she will be leaving by evening, she tried telling but I was rarely around her plus it was not easy on her too. It has been all she wanted studying so it is absolutely fine to be happy for her, she said we will still be besties and will be there for each other as usual. I promised to come to the house that morning and go with her to the airport. I stayed in my room and did not go out for prayers, dad came to my room and asked if I was alright I didn’t say a word to him, he then asked if I already knew, I said yes thinking he meant of the issue at the bank until he said she asked him not to tell me she will find a way of telling me herself. BIANCA: who? DAD: Clara of course BIANCA: so you knew of it dad? DAD: yes I did BIANCA: why did she wait till today to tell me? We should have enjoyed our last days together DAD: she will only be gone for two years BIANCA: where will I start from dad? DAD: distance is never a barrier to a true friendship, I guess you should get ready and go say goodbye to your best friend. I messaged Ben telling him I will be at Clara’s as she’s leaving. He messaged back asking me to make good use of the day and not to worry because he will be here with me so I don’t miss her.
